The Weekends at West Georgia program started off the spring semester by screening the wacky comedy “The Hangover.”

Todd Brown, a graduate assistant who works for the Weekends at West Georgia program, knew “The Hangover” was a big hit because many students at UWG had been asking about it. Brown asked students to fill out surveys for other events that Weekends at West Georgia threw in the past and asked their opinion about future movie preferences. The survey results showed that “The Hangover” was the most popular choice.

The film stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis as three groomsmen who go to Las Vegas to throw a bachelor party for the groom, but end up losing the groom after one crazy night.

Weekends at West Georgia is a University of West Georgia program that keeps students involved and entertained on-campus. Movie nights aren’t the only kinds of nights the program offers – events also include casino and arcade nights, among others.

According to Brown, the movies that the program shows are presented through a company known as Swank Motion Pictures. Before getting the movie, the copyright to the movie has to be paid for, which can be very expensive. There are many movie choices available online.

“I usually just go for the new releases that are the biggest hits,” said Brown. “I also ask around to get some input.”

The movie night, needless to say, was a success.

Weekends at West Georgia will be showing “New Moon” in February.
